About Me
I began my career in journalism, but felt called to birth work as I read article after article after article about poor maternal health outcomes in the United States. I couldn’t sit on the sidelines anymore when I learned there was a way to use my skills in communication, compassion and research to help parents in an environment that often falls short in meeting their emotional needs.
Besides seeing an obvious need within our often-cold medical system, I’m also passionate about people connecting with their bodies through mindfulness and self-care. I was born with a birth defect that affects the strength and ability of one of my feet, and have found power and relief with yoga and exercise.
I’m also a professional figure model working with artists, which means I’m sometimes nude around strangers! I got into the work for my appreciation of art, but also because of how it challenged me to take pride in my body and all that it is capable of. I believe every person giving birth should be free to do so with dignity. This work allows me to help people in one of their most vulnerable states still feel at home in their skin. As a doula, a huge part of my job is making sure your boundaries are respected.
I am also part of the LGBTQ+ community and am committed to helping every kind of family under the rainbow.
