What does tarot have to do with birth?
Yes, I have tarot cards, but I don’t have a crystal ball. My tarot therapy birth spreads are not meant to tell anyone what their future most definitely will hold.
Every birth and body is different, and there’s no way to predict with certainty how this beautiful and messy process will unfold. My tarot spreads are designed to ease anxiety-inducing conversations about your birth preferences, and help to investigate what hopes, fears, and expectations you might be bringing into the delivery space.
After years of reading cards for friends, family, and strangers, I’ve come to see tarot as a symbolic alphabet of sorts. Instead of representing a sound, each letter in the tarot alphabet represents a fragment of human emotion. Tarot is a special tool because it is universal. Together, I and the person I am interpreting the cards for come to an understanding of what those symbols mean for them. It’s a fun, accessible path toward introspection.
As you begin to prepare for your birth, you will need to be able to draw on your intuition, your values, and your strengths. Tarot therapy can help you connect with yourself and your own unique power in a new way, and this is why I incorporate it into my doula practice.
If you are interested in receiving a birth-centered tarot spread (with or without accompanying doula services), see the Services tab.
